What a wonderful opportunity! I'd love to be able to treat my mother to something very nice for a change. She is a Detroit teacher and student and never get to take any time for herself anymore .

My mother raised 3 beautiful daughters, gave up her last for each of us, and is a girl scout leader. I believe those three things alone are enough to qualify her. Raising three girls is never an easy task, and having children is the most unselfish thing a person can do. As a girl scout leader she not only helped mold and shape my sisters and I but also other girls that are now on their way to being great leaders as well.For these reasons and many more she deserves it!

My mother, already in her mid-thirties left the country she grew up in, with her husband and kids to start a new life in the US. I can't imagine starting all over in a new place knowing that you may never go back home. One of the things that helped her make the decision was her female obstetrician who told her that it would be very difficult to have a daughter and raise her in the culture, knowing she would grow up without opportunities afforded to men.
I'm thankful that my mom took my future into consideration! It's just one example of how selfless she is. I can only hope I can be as giving as she is.

She's always been a great example of a wife and mom. She supported my dad 1,000%, until his death in 2002. She always stood for truth, integrity and honesty and instilled those values in me. She's so very strong, yet so very feminine and taught me to be the same.
She's also very dedicated to community service, as she's an elderly caregiver to two senior citizens. She was such an inspiration, that I now have an elderly client that I take care of myself. Mom also does the shopping for our other elderly neighbor, and checks in on our other neighbors regularly.
She's also very active in her church, working every Sunday with the Children's Church from Unity Temple in Detroit. She's been a member of Unity Temple over 20 years and has always gone above and beyond to help her church members. She has also volunteered to cook Sunday breakfast and lunch after the church services, often waking up before dawn to make sure everything is in order.
However, with all her activities, she also makes time for fun by being a member of a bowling league (having bowled for over 30 years). She also travels with several senior groups, giving everyone love and friendship and encouraging them to enjoy life to the fullest!
My mom is fantastic, and I think she'd be tickled pink with the opportunity to celebrate Mother's Day with such an awesome event! Thanks so much!!

When she was alive my mother was a force to be reckoned with! She loved dressing up and attending jazz concerts, that woman certainly had style!
