From the last day to register for Detroit elections to voting for the Hatch semifinalists, Detroiters are speaking up, or at least planning to.
This Tuesday was the last day to register to vote for the Detroit City Elections next month. There was a strong call to action, even on social networks, to “get registered!” A piece by Vincent M. Keenan stressed the importance of not letting Detroit’s creative vision and energy miss the poll box.
Another group of Detroiters are hoping to make a statement with their presence on Woodward. Spurred by Occupy Wallstreet, the revolutionary spirit of Detroit is fired up, and scheduled to meet at the Spirit of Detroit Statue this Friday, in our city’s own Occupy Detroit movement.
The Detroit Revitalization Fellows, along with Detroit Young Professionals headed over to DBC Wednesday night to discuss Detroit’s future over a beer. Many others have been voting online for their top picks in the Hatch contest to choose which business will come to their city.
From traditional voting to cyber polls, from rallies to tweet ups, Detroit citizens are voicing their opinions.
So, Young Detroit, how are you getting heard?
